The 1954 Cadillacs were among the first to establish Harley Earl’s new “make it big” design credo for GM’s mid to late Fifties cars. Incorporating a tasteful slab-sided look while taking full advantage of the ’53 Eldorado’s “Panoramic” view, the new 1954 models were largely the work of chief designer Ed Glowake and assistant Bob Scheelk. The hood and cowl sat high above the low-slung front fenders and protruding grille – giving the car a distinguished look reminiscent of earlier Cadillacs.This design would constantly be reduced in later models as the sheet level dropped.

Bespoke Fleetwood Series Sixty Special grown 3 inches since last year and was a full 11 cm longer than the standard Series 62 limousine. Fleetwood Gold badge adorns the trunk and the instrument panel and eight distinctive chrome "louvers" made its last appearance in the back door. Cadillac offered no less than 12 upholstery styles for Fleetwood's discriminating clientele, which included eight different color combinations.
